first_imgBrendan Rodgers admits Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool career may be over, but has seemingly ruled out a move from Celtic to sign the flopped striker.Balotelli, who has scored just four goals for the Reds, is expected to leave Anfield this summer after being told by Jurgen Klopp he has no future at the club.The 25-year-old Italian has been linked with moves back to his homeland, with Sampdoria and newly-promoted Serie A side Crotone confirming their interest in recent weeks.And former boss Rodgers, who decided to bring the enigmatic frontman to Merseyside for £16million two years ago, admits he needs regular game and a manager’s backing to rediscover his best form.When asked about the out-of-favour striker, Rodgers told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “The thing for any player is that they want to play, you want game time.“But it’s pretty clear over the last couple of seasons for Mario that he’s not in the manager’s plans.“So hopefully he can find a home and settle and get back to using his talent, because the boy’s a big talent.”Breakfast co-host Ray Parlour then quizzed the ex-Reds boss about whether new club Celtic would be interested in giving the Italian striker another chance.But the Northern Irishman just laughed off the question.Guess that’s a no, then?Listen to talkSPORT’s interview with Brendan Rodgers IN FULL above!last_img read more
