Position SummarySeeking a highly motivated scientist to study the molecular basisof genetic syndromes in Dr. Taosheng Huang’s laboratory, Departmentof Pediatrics. This group studies a variety of genetic diseases,with the ultimate goals of developing treatments for saidconditions while also translating the discoveries from rarediseases to more common conditions. Special emphasis is placed onmitochondrial diseases (see his Dr.Taosheng’s faculty page for more details), which play acritical and often underappreciated role in a wide variety ofdisorders. Methodologies used include next generation sequencing toidentify disease-causing mutations, and iPSC and mouse models tocharacterize the impact of these mutations using CRISPR /Cas9-basedmethods. As the new Division Chief in Human Genetics, Dr. Huang isactively committed to the training of junior faculty, as well asclinical and research fellows.
