SHOCK AS FINN HARPS PULL OUT OF ULSTER SENIOR LEAGUE

first_imgThere has been widespread shock and anger this evening following the news that Finn Harps have withdrawn a side from the USL interim season.Harps have pulled out of the league after only two fixtures, and the announcement has prompted a negative reaction towards the clubs from leading soccer officials in the county and players in the league. The much maligned USL has seen the standard diminish over the last numbers of years, and that has forced USL executives to return to winter football. It was deemed that the summer model didn’t work and the majority of clubs decided to opt back to a winter format. However, before they return to winter football, a short six-team interim season was to be held and got underway a fortnight ago. However, tonight Finn  informed the USL board of its decision to pull out of the league. That announcement has been met by anger from current USL players who have slammed Harps for letting this situation happen. Many are perplexed that a senior club can’t gather enough players to regularly field a team for the short TEN game season. They’ve been slammed on Facebook and Twitter forums following the news, and after all the positivity coming out of Finn Park over the last few weeks regarding the academy and first team, it’s a devastating and embarrassing blow to the club. The USL will now soldier on with just five teams from the remainder of the season.SHOCK AS FINN HARPS PULL OUT OF ULSTER SENIOR LEAGUE was last modified: February 24th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:finn harpsnewssoccerSportUSLlast_img read more
